DESIGNING INTERACTIVE INFECTION CONTROL EDUCATION

This instructor-focused teaching methods course moves beyond basic infection control content and focuses on how to teach it in an engaging, compliant, and memorable way. Instructors will learn instructional strategies, demonstrations, discussion techniques, and hands-on activities that support student understanding and long-term compliance with infection control practices in salon and spa environments.

The course emphasizes active learning, regulatory accuracy, and classroom-to-clinic application, equipping instructors with ready-to-use teaching tools they can immediately implement in their programs.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, the instructor will be able to:

  • Design an interactive infection control lesson that meets Minnesota Board of Cosmetology and OSHA standards
  • Apply teaching methods that improve student retention and real-world compliance
  • Facilitate demonstrations, discussions, and activities that support life-long infection control habits
  • Develop assessment tools to evaluate student understanding and performance
  • Integrate regulatory language into student-friendly instruction
